SOCIAL SECURITY
U.S. Social Security Hotline - 1-800-772-1213 You must get a social security card when you arrive in the U.S. for the purpose of paying US taxes.
The procedures:
* Call 1-800-772-1213 from 7am - 7pm Eastern Standard time to find out the location of the most convenient office for you
* You must go in person to your local Social Security office and bring the following documents - passport, Visa, and all INS papers. It usually takes two to three weeks to receive your card in the mail, but you can usually find out your social security number within 24 hours by calling the above 800#.
